Wonderful Weekend

Posted: March 24, 2008 in travelings

This weekend was so beautiful.  We were able to spend alot of it outside and it was glorious to be able to do so.  My hubby had the day off on Friday, so we decided to do a few small projects.  We rebuild an old picnic table and then we built several birdhouses and made some birdhouse kits.  We had gotten some plans off the internet for specific types of birds.  We built several different styles for several different types of birds.  It was alot of fun.  My husband got carried away with one and it turn into a bird-mansion instead of birdhouse 🙂 It has a porch, a chimney and even a stack of firewood on the back porch.  He is so brilliant 😉

On Saturday, we met some friends before daylight, yes I had to get up at 5:30 on a Saturday 😦 but it turned out to be a Great day!  We drove over to Collinsville, Alabama to a giant Flea Market.  We found some odd things and got some delicious boiled peanuts.  We then drove on up to Little River Canyon State Park.  We had never been there before and it was very pretty.  We walked down a small paved trail to get to the top of the falls, but then we saw there was a trail that led down to the bottom of the falls, so we of course had to try that one.  It ended up not being much of a trail.  It was basically a small path that led down the side of a mountain and then we had to do some radical rock-climbing 😉

Really, alot of it was truly climbing down the side of a large rock cliff.  Well, needless to say, we made it and we were able to walk along the river and had a GREAT time.  The next day, I was barely able to climb out of bed from being so sore, but it was still a GREAT time.  All the kids has such a good time.  On Sunday, we opted to skip the traditional Easter activities, and took the kids to Rock City in Chattanooga, TN.  My hubby and I had gone there on our honeymoon, but had not been in 20 years.  It was a little “pricey” but it was fun.  It is such a warm feeling to know you spent the day with people that you love, just enjoying God’s creations and making memories.  I have come to realize, that one of the greatest joys in my life is making memories that will last a lifetime.  We have so many, and I love adding to that.

March Madness Update:  After the first round of play, of course I am in last place with only 19 points.  As usual, I picked all the wrong upsets.  Youngest DD and Daddy are tied for first place with 24 points.  Middle and Oldest DD have 21 and 20.
