Excuse me while I climb on my soapbox once again

Yes, this is about American politics.  What else would it be about?!?  A lost and dying world, starving and abused children, legalized mass killings of innocent babies, unGodly abominations….oh wait, that IS America.  And we wonder why we are in the crisis that we are in.

I don’t pretend to be an expert on the economic situation, as a matter of fact, I will readily admit that I really don’t understand what this whole “Bail out” is really all about.

To my best understanding, it is about some really, really rich people that made some major mistakes and now they are only really rich and they are getting “bailed out” by the government, so they can continue to live in their multi-million dollar estates and drive their luxury cars, and not have to pay in the least for their bad judgements.

Is that anywhere in the vicinity of being accurate?!?

I heard an analyst the other day say something that I thought was very profound.  He said, “When did the American dream become the American promise”, or I add “the American right.”

We have gotten to the place in America where we think it is our right to live in a huge house, drive new cars and have pretty much whatever our little hearts desire.  Who said we were due all of that?!?  Didn’t I once hear that Americans had the right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  Where in there does it mention material things?  Oh yea, the pursuit of happiness.  Have we gotten to the place where it takes all of those material things to make us happy?  Of course we have.  I don’t know for sure, but I dare wonder what our founding fathers would think if they could see us now.

Listening to all of this “economic crisis” is bad enough, but now It seems that all this election season has become is one politician “slamming” another politician.  He said, he said.  It is such a disgrace.  This whole political mess has gotten so out of control, it makes me want to pick up my family and move to Antarctica 😦 .  Do they really think at this point that we are listening to anything that they have to say?  Whatever one says, the other says how it is not true, and how they are the answer to all the world’s problems.  It really has turned into something that is not worthy to be called “American”.

Don’t they know that Jesus is the only answer that will really bring “change” to the world and until we get back to that, we are on a doomed course that will end in disaster and it really won’t matter who the president is.

All I know is, I am looking forward to November 5th.  When this whole fiasco is behind us and we can start trying to repair America.  Maybe when the folks in Washington don’t have to be so concerned with proving that although one candidate may not be great, the other candidate is even worse, then we can move on.

That brings me to another point.  What do we do when all our choices seem wrong?  Do we just not make a choice?  No, that would be unAmerican.  Do we just choose the lesser of the wrongs? ……..Let’s see……our choices are …….wrong or more wrong.

And we wonder why our country is in the debacle that we are in?!?

garden glimpses had a very thoughtful post the other day stating the kind of leader that we can only pray to have.  You should check it out.

  1. G says:

Have you been talking to Will today?:)

  2. joycomesinthemorning says:

Amen!! See the “AT EASE” blog I put in on the 13th. We basically feel the same way. We cannot lose sight of the fact that God is in charge. But sometimes he will let people have just what they have ask for as He did Israel when they wanted a king. God was their King, but they wanted to be like the other nations, so God granted their wish. Heartache overshadowed them for a long time. Most of Israel’s kings were wicked. History repeates itself.

  3. Our former state rep (we moved but he’s still in Congress) voted against the bailout both times in the House, and we were so proud of him. His name is Don Manzullo, and he’s a strong Christian and a homeschool dad. So there are a few good guys out there, but they seem to be outnumbered these days.

I keep praying for the leaders we need, not the ones we deserve. May God have mercy on us.
